We did our first PRW - ASSOS collaboration jersey back in 2011, since then we are on our 4th edition. Like all things Assos does the process is meticulous and not one that happens in 3 weeks like some custom brands. But I am more than ok with that. I like that Assos makes it a true collaboration piece in regards to you still need to maintain their aesthetics and design elements. Some may scoff at this for a custom jersey but I like that they maintain their identity but allow me the designer to to share in the overall design and add the PRW elements to it, a true collaboration.

For this edition we went with a clean look with subtle PRW branding. I don’t need you to be a billboard and I feel the fit and quality of the jersey should be the focal point with our added touches offering the rider a truly unique piece of kit that can not be purchased anywhere but at PRW. As with all our Assos kits the maple leaf is featured because I have to pay homage to the greatest country in the world ! Biased I know but its my jersey…. We didn’t offer matching bibs this time around as I felt with the minimal look of the jersey, it was best highlighted by any one of the new S7 bibs to offer a nice clean and refined look.

So enough about the design and on to what Assos is really know for is the fabric and fit. The jersey is based off the Magusta_S7 which features a brand new ASSOS pattern design. This is also the same pattern as the Swiss National Team’s jersey made by Assos, which means that you get the same tech and fabrics as Spartacus. Remember him, he was fast.

From a fit point of view, it is situated between SS.Uno and SS.Mille. So, not too snug and not too loose. A perfect compromise to better fit both the athlete and larger body types. Assos calls it performance Fit, which I think is very polite. The main fabric used on these new jerseys is the brand new ASSOS Textile Lab development - Type 151 (the same as that being used in the new Mille jersey). Less volume and increased, faster-reacting body climaregulation. When you perspire a lot, it reacts by speeding up moisture transfer. When you cool down fast, it slows the evaporation process, using your body’s moisture to retain warmth. UV protection: Yes, 50+

KEY FEATURES • Made out of two different textiles and 24 parts and components • Zippered safety pocket with inside opening to let earphones pass (iPod compatible, recommended only for indoor cycling cuz we all want you to come home safe) • Rear, reflective visibility stripes • Covered, full front zip

COMPOSITION:: 85% polyester, 9% elastane, 6% polyamide

So there you have it, must say this is my favourite edition yet which says a lot . In stock now, sizes Small to XL for a limited release. So hurry up and get them added to your Christmas list.
