The Italian Job

It’s that time of the year again when I pack the lavender chinos and make my annual voyage to Italy to meet with the fine folks of Wilier. It is a bit later than last year, which gives Italy a chance to get over their Giro hangover. As always, I hate leaving the shop for a week during such a busy time, but the young lads will hold the fort down in my absence. Shouldn’t have to remind everyone to be nice to them, I am a bit demanding of them so you need to offset me and bring them baked goods and smiles. Try not to ask any really hard questions otherwise they will be texting me at midnight in Italy, and remember its only bikes not life or death, so if they can’t fix the problem, I can deal with it when I get back with the best of my ability. I will try checking emails daily, try is the key word. To make everyone’s life easier I suggest calling the shop if you need anything or hey, come by in person. Remember when people shopped in person? I do.

So what does Wilier have in store for me this year? Well, hopefully I will be testing bikes, drinking coffee and lots of spritz. I presume we will get to try something new and shiny, preceded by a lengthy NDA. So no pics until they tell me it is ok. The hospitality that Wilier provides is 5 star and above anything I have ever experienced in the Bike industry, so I know I will not be disappointed. This year we are based out of Abano Terme, a small town known for spas in Northern Italy, which is pretty close to the Wilier HQ. What is the riding like? No idea but they have never disappointed me yet so I look forward to whatever they have in store for me.

I will be gone from Wednesday June 28th, and will be back in the shop Tuesday June 4th with a serious case of jet lag and some good stories to tell. Also as a reminder we will be CLOSED CANADA DAY JULY 1st. Lots of local events going on to keep yourself occupied including the annual Canada Day Crit. So enjoy Canada’s 150th Birthday responsibly, I will toast the best Country in the world from across the pond.

As you were.
